'While nudity is illegal in Australia except on designated beaches, [wow, nowhere else? ed.] local councils consider toplessness acceptable.' A Mr Nile now wants the legislation tightened so that it is clear. “The law... must say:
‘Exposure of women’s breasts on beaches will be prohibited’.” [well, that's leaving a lot of ambiguity as well, but we know, more or less, where he is coming from, ed.]
Though his proposal 'elicited howls of protest from sun-loving Sydneysiders, who have just begun their long summer holiday', Paul Gibson, a Labor party MP, claimed that topless women made people uncomfortable. “If you’re on the beach, do you want somebody with big knockers next to you when you’re there with the kids?” he asked. [Why not? ed.]
Sally Betts, the mayor responsible for Bondi, daringly has asserted that toplessness is not the same as nudity:
“Nude is when you’ve got no clothes on.”
Ms Betts, there you are wrong, and the entire history of art proves it. However, when you state that Sydney faces far worse social problems than bare breasts you have a world of trouble and economic pain on your side.
Here, we're all in Speedos all summer.

The little tiny beach I have been going to in Cornwall for nigh on 25 years (I can't say where it is else I would have to kill anyone who read this blog) is a self-appointed nudist beach. The area has a long standing community of people who moved down here years ago, and it is they who have instituted this.
The beach therefore has lots of naked people on it, from outrageously gorgeous women to splendidly scraggy and /or wobbly old men and women (who then bely their ages by clambering up the high cliffs back to the cliff path rather than take the winding path up).
Whilst the kids initially found this embarrassing when my ex and I first went their on our holidays, they soon got used to it, and no-one was offended.
And it is lovely to swim naked in the sea.
Cannot believe Fred Nile is still a Member of the Legislative Council. If you would like a laugh check out his profile on the net. The Mayor of Waverley Council (which looks after Bondi Bch) said that he has had only one complaint in three years about topless sun-bathing. Fred Nile, what a wowser! Don't these people have a life. I am more concerned abouit people smoking on Bondi Bch quite frankly.
Happy New Year.
