The Arno has returned to roaring along, fed by the renewed rain. In Florence there are watchers on the bridges; the river is at the primo livello di guardia.
There are watchers on the bridges much further up the river too. You should see it at Ponte alla Chiassa, both rivers are incredibly high.

I didn't take any other than with my eyes ND. Oh dear. If you have RAI the rivers are opening the news these evenings. Rome is getting it from the Tiber at the moment.
It hadn't occurred to me that if a large tributary turns up at full pelt and finds the main river full already all it can do is back up on itself; so the tributaries are doing a lot of damage. Managing flood plains and throughputs needs lots of local knowledge, history, budgets for years and powers to stop silly behaviour about how lovely a place to build an estate of houses decided on a summer eevening. Or a factory or two.
The floating restaurants on the Tiber (illegal) have been torn from their moorings and are now like corks in an upturned bottle jammed under the bridges while workers risk their elf,n distmantling them and pulling them away.
Watchers still watching in Florence.
